Combination apples have multiple varieties of apple grafted onto a single tree. This means that one tree will produce 4 different kinds of apples (each main branch produces a different kind of apple) and that it will pollinate itself! In previous years, this combination has included the following varieties:

Honeycrisp: The apples that are formed on this tree are large, crisp, and juicy. They have a mottled red-over-yellow coloring to them, and are excellent for fresh eating, cooking, juicing, or storing for up to 6 months.

Hardi-Mac: Cold-hardy Macintosh cultivar first found in Calgary, Alberta. Medium-sized, red apple with crisp, juicy white flesh. Good for fresh eating and cooking with fair storage qualities.

Goodland: Large, light green apple with a red blush. Crisp, late summer apple for eating fresh, cooking and can be stored for up to 4 months.

Rescue: A 1936 introduction from the Experimental Farm in Scott, Saskatchewan. The crabapples are small, dull red with a yellow underlay, and with a firm yellowish white colored flesh. An extremely hardy tree that will ripen in early August. Though the tree is hardy, the apples do not store well. Great used in cooking, jellies, and for fresh eating.

Please note: varieties included vary year to year and may be different than what is listed above.

Requires a moist, well-drained soil. Great for the backyard with a small amount of space because you do not require a second apple tree for cross-pollination.
